Introduction
The Blue Mosque
In 2010 we visited Turkey and opted to visit Romania and Bulgaria on the way. Unless you particularly want to visit those countries we suggest that other tourists take the ferry from Italy to Greece and then take the motorway to Turkey. The roads in Romania and Bulgaria were generally pretty poor and it was with great relief and surprise that we entered Turkey to be met with a wonderful motorway that took us into Istanbul.
We had no problem finding campsites, there are not too many but you can find them by visiting the ACSI website which gives location and GPS. www.eurocampings.co.uk It is also possible to wild camp in Turkey. While we there we came across an organised trip of Dutch motorhomers and we copied details of the campsites on their itinerary but these are all on the ACSI site.
We took Lonely Planet with us as a guide which was pretty good on info, I think Rough Guide is pretty similar as to conents. These guides are ok but are aimed at the independent traveller generally rather than campers or motorhomers.
We did some searching on the web for more info and found www.magbaztravels.com was helpful.
