Tavira
We came upon Tavira quite early in our motorhome travels and it has become our favourite winter destination.
It is in the eastern Algarve, not too far away from the Spanish border. It is an old town and largely unspoiled unlike a few towns in Portugal and many along the Spanish coast. There is a Roman Bridge, a castle, a railway station, lovely churches, lots of original old Portuguese style buildings (many still not restored), salt workings, great birdwatching, good shops and nice campsites.
